Roku Santa Monica

Santa Monica, California

Phase I: 45,000 SF

Phase II: 20,000 SF

This new flagship office blends Roku standards with the surrounding environment, incorporating the colors of the Santa Monica sunset
Upon entering the double height reception area, visitors are greeted with a large, vibrant wall graphic. The graphic wall is the Roku city screensaver with a focus on Hollywood iconography. The remainder of the space is kept monochromatic to keep the focus on the dynamic wall, with a simple vertical wood and Corian reception desk.

Typical of all offices, there is an interview and meeting room suite with a hospitality coffee bar for all visitors to the space. Adjacent to this area as well is an Auditorium for ‘all hands’ meetings and a double height Atrium space that leads to the rest of the office areas.

The Switzer Group presented bold design ideas for all areas, as well as the shared areas with ancillary furniture. Roku’s furniture and brand standards were incorporated with slight variations, making each workspace unique. A large metal feature wall in the sunlit atrium is displayed with D Pads that are perforated and back lit. There are baffle walls with printed acoustics of the Santa Monica Pier at sunrise when viewed from one direction and at sunset when viewed from the other side.

Custom acoustic panels are employed in all the conference rooms and Framery phone booths are positioned throughout. Aside from the Roku purple color seen in all areas, a light wood palette with black and grey accents are used for doors and workstations.

Custom planters and biophilia were used to ‘soften’ certain areas and provide areas of rest. The remainder of the office consists of a large breakroom with moveable planters and various conference rooms adjacent to the space. Roku provides a variety of work and meeting space options for its employees and visitors.

"The Switzer Group learned our unique space and operational needs and were energetic and engaged throughout the construction. They worked closely with the project construction manager and helped ensure our vision for the building attained."
