As a leading global data, information and measurement company, Nielsen often acquires start-up companies with complementary specialties. This was recently the case for Nielsen in New York and after acquiring a data-management technology platform, their offices required expansion and the accommodation of a workplace environment that spoke to a start-up culture.
After evaluating various potential real estate locations for this new larger office, The Switzer Group assisted Nielsen in selecting two floors at 675 Avenue of the Americas that would house their Technology Group that ranges from 225-250 people. The new workplace was designed to support both Nielsen and their new acquisition’s business functions, prioritizing agility, technological progress, teamwork and socialization. The office is open with pods accommodating teams of 6, 8 and 12 with a large emphasis placed on amenities. These include small and large formal and informal meeting rooms (huddle rooms, demonstration areas, team rooms and free-program spaces), as well as a café/pantry and a lively lounge area with a bar and gaming room.
The Nielsen mantra is exhibited throughout the office along with branded privacy film, vinyl graphics expressed on collaborative tables. Additionally an interactive wall was installed. Area rugs compliment and add warmth to the floors and the decorative lighting installation includes sculptural LED fixtures and whimsical hanging pendants creating a space that is lively and expressive.
